PUBLISHING X THE ALIPORE POST
Memories on a Plate
Memories on a Plate, by Nivaala and The Alipore Post is an anthology from India that captures the heartwarming connection between food, memory, and culture. This collection brings together personal anecdotes, recipes, art, poetry and photo essays from 100 Indian kitchens around the globe.
The book was awarded 1st place in the Food Writing category at the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards, one of the most respected global honors in food publishing. It stood alongside works from Italy, Argentina, and Brazil - a proud moment for Indian storytelling on the world stage.
This book is proudly funded by Two Brothers Organic Farms India.

Chutney
A Perfect Bite Consulting commissioned Nivaala to design Chutney, a 300+ page book documenting over a hundred chutney recipes from across India. Leading the complete design direction from concept to final layout, we crafted a visual narrative inspired by chutney's bold, varied, and deeply local nature.
We collaborated with artist Nandita Mukandan to create the illustrated cover, a map of India made entirely from chutney bowls and ingredients, while developing the book's elegant typography and layout. The design balances cultural authenticity with contemporary aesthetics, creating a collector's piece that serves as both cookbook and cultural archive.

PUBLISHING x GOYA
A Kitchen of One's Own
A Kitchen of One’s Own is a celebration of the modern Indian homecook. This book, a Goya x Nivaala collaboration, is part-cookbook, part-journal. With vivid, evocative watercolours by Zainab Tambawalla, this collector’s item designed by Nivaala, with recipes from Goya’s community, is a crowd-funded project. The book is the result of 6 years of collecting heirloom recipes from communities around the country. We believe that the real stars of the Indian culinary story are the home cooks, and A Kitchen of One’s Own is an attempt to place them front and centre.

EXPERIENCE x THE ALIPORE POST
Recipe Postcard Exchange
Nivaala and The Alipore Post come together to bring you the ultimate recipe exchange! Personalised handwritten recipe postcards, mailed for you. Nothing beats the thrill of opening the mailbox and finding a letter, written and addressed just for you. This is why we launched this highly personalised campaign to inspire people to share their family recipes.

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT x JAIPUR MODERN
Aam Kasundi
We launched the Raw Mango Mustard, traditionally called “Aam Kasundi” condiment, which is a third generational recipe from Chef Anuroopa’s family repertoire in the kitchen of Jaipur Modern, Rajasthan. This recipe was meticulously tested over the course of 8 months, and we co-created a menu to launch this condiment pan India.

PUBLISHING x SHROOMERY
The Mushroom Project
The Mushroom Project magazine is an exclusive long-format magazine with conversations, recipes and anecdotes for people who are culturally curious about mushrooms. Other than serving as the world's most adorable character in Mario, mushrooms have been presiding on the earth for over 200 million years, and are one of the most versatile and nutrient-dense cooking ingredients. With this zine, we've put together personal stories and lesser-expected recipes from some of the best chefs across the country including Chef Auroni Mukherjee and Chef Prateek Sadhu.

PUBLISHING x EAT WITH BETTER
The Jackfruit Project
We partnered with Eat with Better to put together a special magazine collating recipes using jackfruits from across India. It not only included recipes, but origin stories, fun facts, etc about jackfruit.

PUBLISHING x TONS VALLEY
The Legume Project
As part of The Legume Project, we created a limited-edition zine to celebrate the versatility of Indian cooking through rajma. Featuring recipes from across India—beyond the beloved creamy Punjabi rajma chawal—the zine highlighted how a single ingredient transforms with regional traditions and flavors. We partnered with Tons Valley to source organic rajma grown in Uttarakhand, supporting sustainable farming while showcasing the richness of local produce. This project is a tribute to India’s culinary diversity and the importance of preserving regional food traditions.

FUNDRAISER X GOYA
Around The Table
We partnered with Goya along with eight of the top chefs across India to capture their family recipes. We collated these recipes into an e-book, and did a fundraiser to donate grocery kits to slum areas in Mumbai during Covid-19
